Teachers Contract Discussions
The outcome of last week’s fact-finding hearing between Menominee Schools and their teachers union may depend on who you talk to.  One of the major topics during the fact-finding session was the projected budget for the Menominee Area Public Schools.  With uncertainties in state funding, the district and the Menominee City District Education Association differ on how to anticipate the school’s income and how that should affect the teachers.  Superintendent Erik Bergh says the district is already preparing for a hefty budget deficit. But MCDEA Spokesman Ron Jackson says the district needs is using worst case scenario numbers.  The fact finder is expected to reach his decision within 60-days. Menominee teachers have now been working without a contract for over 600 school days.
