U.S. Hwy 41 Reclassification?
A major change is being considered to a portion of U.S. 41 in Wisconsin. The state is considering reclassifying the segment of Highway 41 from Milwaukee to Green Bay as an interstate. The switch could be a few years away as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation considers changes that would be needed to bring the stretch of road up to interstate standards. Northeast Regional Director Michael Berg from the Wisconsin DOT says it could lead to good things economically. It’s not clear how that change would affect 41 further north as it leads to Marinette. But this week, the Marinette County Board passed a resolution to support reclassifying Highway 41 as an Interstate.
