MAPS Will Pay Township Fee
Menominee Area Public Schools will have to pay out funds to property owners in Menominee and Ingallston Townships as part of the new summer tax collections. The district will now be collecting taxes on summer tax forms. The schools will have to pay $2.50 to each piece of taxable property in Menominee and Ingallston Townships, to replace a state subsidy that the townships will lose because of the summer tax collections. According to Superintendent Erick Bergh, that will cost the district around $8,000, though the interest saved by collecting in the summer will more than offset those fees.
