Ice Breaking Starts Today
The U.S. Coast Guard is planning to start ice-breaking operations on the bay of Green Bay today. The Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw will be conducting the ice breaking operation along the Lake Carriers Association track lines. That includes icebreaking in and around the Marinette-Menominee and Sturgeon Bay areas. Ice fishing shanties near the shipping lanes need to be removed from those areas. All recreational ice users on the bay need to plan their activities carefully and use caution near any of the shipping lanes.
